A team from GeoSysIoT Research Group won the first prize in the mApp Your Way App Development Challenge at the 16th Esri India’s User Conference, held at New Delhi on December 4, 2015.
The team of students comprising of Abhishek Potnis, Pankaj Randhe and Pratyush Talreja under the mentorship of Prof. Surya Durbha, developed a GIS based mobile and web application to address the issue of monitoring and managing potholes on Indian roads. The android application for citizens would enable them to report, monitor potholes. Using the already mapped potholes, the application would also suggest a potholes free route from the given source and destination. This feature was primarily aimed for senior citizens, pregnant women and patients who would want a bump-free ride. The web application for the authorities would enable them to monitor and manage potholes reported by the citizens.
Teams from all over India participated in the ‘mApp Your Way’ App Development Challenge, and the top 5 finalist teams were invited to present their application at the 16th Esri India User Conference, New Delhi. Congratulations to the students and Prof. Surya Durbha for winning the challenge. We hope to see more of such accolades for our students in the future.
